I think it's the states plan to rid Detroit of it's population. Try to move whites back into Detroit.

Detroit might be a great city again.
You have alot of Africans in the burbs? Interesting! LOL

LOL! I know Lot of Africans huh?
God Michigan is so Country BACK water Rust Belt Uncultured!
I can not stand living here!
But as for Detroit, Worst part. The EAST SIDE! That place is a night mare, I a self respecting west sider myself would NEVER EVER live on the east side of Detroit.
Also The worst area would be anything near Tuxedo, near Central high school. (I still can't believe my mom forced me to go there! after that girl got killed on our 2nd day of school!!!!)
After that Anything along Southfield freeway, anything along any freeway is going to be hood.

Best areas of Detroit are 8 mile and Livernois, in the Greenacres\Palmer park. There you can find some SUPER nice houses on the cheap. But
Detroit much like Michigan reflects the attitudes of those that live there.

Shallow and uncultured.
Sorry to burn on everyone but after traveling so much and seeing successful states I have to blame everyone in Michigan for its condition.
Detroit city and Suburbs.

Why would you post this same message in multiple threads instead of starting a new thread?

Welcome to C-D Forum, homer8 !
I hope you'll find most (most) of the members here can be very helpful and considerate, civil as it were.
If my daughter was planning on moving into the city you bet I'd ask anyone I could get information from.
A friend of mine's daughter moved from Maryland to attend her mother's alma mater- Wayne State. She lives on campus, has for 3 years and has had no problems. In Michigan, the state universities have their own police force, so living on campus can be safer and much better than commuting/ searching for parking, etc.
..,.How to pose a question for members/ start a new thread: It took me awhile, then I found the 'button'. When you are in the section such as Michigan or in this case Detroit, the 'home page' is a list of topics. At the top of the page you will see a 'start new thread' button, take it from there.

I have only been to Detroit a few times but I always hear that the Eastside is the worst area, but the westside isnt nice either. Its basically the same as Cleveland, Westside=Bad, Eastside=Really Bad. The worst areas I can think of are on 7 Mile, Gratiot, VanDyke and Harper (that whole area) and basically anything 1/2 mile or more East & NE of downtown. The near westside seems pretty rough too but once you get out a little bit it definitely looks a lot better than the near westside. Most of the Detroit from 1/2 mile from downtown to 3 miles of downtown is very decayed and mostly abandoned.

The worst looking areas arent necessarily the most dangerous though. Detroit has some areas that are pretty much 90% vacant lots and burnt down houses, but those areas dont get as much crime as the more mixed areas with some occupied housing and some vacant.

You guys are just throwing out streets that go all over town. Makes me wonder how much time you have actually spent in the city. I'm guessing ....not much.

I have only been to Detroit 3 times so Ill admit that I dont know that much about the city firsthand. I have heard from most people that the Eastside overall is worse looking than the westside, but Im sure that the westside isnt too nice either. I have seen some areas on the Eastside that it would be hard to top how bad looking they are but I was surprised that even the SW side looked pretty bad.
