cardwellave will become famous soon enoughcardwellave will become famous soon enough
i've lived in the Dearborn Heights and Garden City area all my life. It's VERY safe. Not a thing wrong with it. Westland, Dearborn Heights, Garden City, Livonia, all very nice areas. I don't find Detroit very scary at all. In fact I find Inkster to be far worse.

I do have a question though, I'm thinking about moving to Redford in the next few years and I can't get a good grasp on which areas I should stay clear of. The Lola Valley area from Inskter to Beech Daly and 5 to 6 Mile seems pretty nice actually, as well as the "Downtown" area near St. Valentines. I had aleays heard South Redford between about Plymouth and Joy was nicer but I think northern (old) Redford is a little less intimidating. Also it seems really hit or miss around the border area near Beech and 6 Mile, some houses really nice, some not at all, some streets very threatening looking, some not at all. (Near 5 Points which is the Detroit border). And what about the 7 to 8 Mile area at Beech or Inkster? How are these areas. What are the worst areas of Redford? I'm kinda thinking anything near Telegraph too much.

Help me out.

Default Michigan Sucks all together

I have been a life long resident of detroit/warren areas. Detroit til I was 18 and then warren the rest neither are any good. I think warren more and more looks like the Filthy City of Detroit I right now live 2 blocks north of 8 mile go figure last night dead body 2 doors down crime scene was there for hours as of next monday or tuesday depending on if we are finished packing because we are heading for Alabama the work here sucks in michigan even for skilled trades (my husband is skilled trades). MICHIGAN IS A CRAPPY STATE!!! I wouldnt recommend any one move here!!!! Not just Detroit thats just a city that should give you reason to never come here!!! Will be glad to be gone!!!

I worked near Markham Illinois, and it reminds me of West Detroit...I don't know how you can compare an area as large as Detroit with some of these smaller cities such as Markham or Lancaster, South Carolina. They probably have 1/8 the population Detroit has.

Card, Redford isn't bad. I like those neighborhoods near Ford Rd. or Cherry Hill just east of I-275. I have a friend who lives there, and they seem like good neighborhoods with affordable houses.
