I've got three days off next month and would like to get out of the city for that time. I'd love to go up to Traverse City or Sleeping Bear area, but I don't want to spend my entire vacation driving, so I'm looking for affordable suggestions within a 3-4 hr. drive from the city - either on water or even in "the woods" - something fairly secluded or private. I'm not into resorts, and B&Bs, in my experience can be pricey. Hotels aren't really what I'm looking for, and on the opposite end of the scale, I'm not feeling like I want to pitch a tent this time around. Where do folks go when they want to relax and rejuvenate, either alone or with a friend?
