Downtown Royal Oak during the day is fine.
You will notice that, during the 2003 summer blackout, all the inner suburbs had nice curfews.
I heard it on the radio as I was driving from Ann Arbor to Rochester Hills.

Moving To Clawson....
Born and raised in Chicago, living in Europe for some time now, moving back to the midwest in the fall.
I have been reading some positive things about the Royal Oak and surrounding communities. As well as some negative.
Detroit and itīs surrounding neighborhoods to be NOT SAFE...and looks like a bomb blew up there!!! Why are you trying to scare people?
I live in a large city in Spain (100,000+ residents) where there are abandoned buildings that are ready to fall, people living on the streets, heroin users pased out on the side walks.....NO MATTER where you go in the world, every city has itīs shady areas. Believe me, as a woman, I donīt feel safe either here or Chicago. What happened to Detroit is sad but not unique. (Seen many cities in europe that this has happened to)
I am pretty excited to move to the Detroit area and show my husband what the midwest is like and has to offer.

i grew up btween 8 and 9 mile its not that bad honestly. You dont get shot walking dwn the street not everything south of 16 mile is bad ha. THe true ghettos are south of 8 mile anywhere in detroit besides palmer park on 7 and woodward. But fenkell - 8 mile are bad if ur white and go to fenkell and livernois and night u are askn for trble just take my opinions not what u heard that eveything south of 16 mile is bad 9 mile is still white to my acknowledge to.

Maybe so. You are living in the exclusive city - city? woods? park? farms? and I agree with you on the "borders" between the pointes and detroit - it's a shame - i wish Detroit would make a comeback - I was up in Michigan a few weeks ago and went downtown - its really looking beautiful down there.  |
