Oh, and the people who dont come south of Hall road annoy me. Seems like a totally different breed of people when I cross there. Snooty, stuck up attitudes.

Oh really, FYI we are not snooty. We are afraid.
I was born (1937) and raised in a house in Northwest Detroit.
I haven't been passed the old place since 1981. We slowed down to observe the old neighborhood when a crowd started to gather on the corner.
Enough said....

Sadly, this "logic" passes for wisdom for some of the locals. Assanine is definately a more accurate word to descibe it.

It's amazing how Detroit has suddenly extended northwards another 8 miles. I must have been asleep for that.

Sorry the sight of so many of "those people" frightened you.
Did they say or do anything to frighten you or just the sight of them was enough to send tremors down your spine.
People like you moved because of your perceptions, and what you were told about the mass influx of "those people".
I live around the corner from a white lady, she's about 70 or mid 70's; I see her out most mornings watering her grass or taking care of her garden.
Because of so many negative posts on this board, I asked her one morning why she did not move. She was somewhay taken aback by the question but she confided in me and said that her husband and son had both been police officers and they had more than enough guns to deal with any problems that any "new neighbors" may have brought their way.
After twenty years and no problems they decided to stay because the predictions going around during the 50's and 60's just never happened in her neighborhood. Their home wasen't looted, she wasen't robbed and/or raped and her son actually started to get along with his neighbors.
I have tried to get her to get on the internet, but she has said she wants nothing to do with these things and simply prefers to take care of her flowers.

Did I mention "those people"? Touchy, aren't we?
FYI I moved out when I got married.
My family wasn't driven out until 1968. A year after the riots, as you might recall.
And, let's not forget the riots of 1947.
