We slowed down to observe the old neighborhood when a crowd started to gather on the corner.
Enough said....
So this crowd was a crowd of white people? Sure, okay.
How exactly were you driven out, did you receive threats of some kind?
I'm not touchy just honest.
Those 1947 riots should say what? If you care to research those riots, I don't think those are something you should be proud of, but before I presume anything tell me the significance of bringing them up?

No, it was a crowd of "those people". What difference does that make?
The riots of 1967 drove my family out.
The precursor of things to come. Detroit is a mess.
There you go trying to put words in my mouth, again. Where does it say, in my previous posts, that I a am proud of the 1947 riots? It's history.
People like you drove me out of Detroit now out of this forum.
I won't waste my time on bigots.

In case you decided to lurk for a reply, here you are.
You brought up the 1947 riots, I asked you to clarify why that event entered the discussion.
I asked who comprised the "crowd" that gathered and made you so nervous and afraid.
Yes this forum has bigots, racists, idiots, etc. But whatever someone may wish to label us, as a forum we still continue to talk, debate, and disagree, that takes a certain amount of patience and courage.
When you have those please feel free to return, everyone may not agree with you but that helps make things interesting, different points of view.

I mean really if you just get down to the matter and say it, the white people in metro detroit are afraid of the black people in the city of Detroit. For some odd reason, they think when they automatically cross 8 mile, they are going to get shot, robbed, raped, etc. Fact is, Detroit will never come back until the ignorant people above 8 mile and the ignorant people below 8 mile realize that they need each other to make this region survive. Black people don't wanna go north because the think the white people don't want them there. White people don't wanna come south because of the same thing. It's actually funny because you can literally see white people "running away" further and further from the city to get away from the black people. I remember when Southfield was primarily black. Then black people started moving out there, and now Southfield is primarily black. Well, you can't get away. Unless you move out the state that is. No matter where you go, we'll eventually be there hahahaha. We're coming for you!!! Do I have a problem with white people? No. I have a lot of white friends. But hey, as long as they keep coming to games downtown and spending their money in the city, I'm happy.

Most of us know it's not automatic, but we also know that it's a lot more likely than it is in Northville or Royal Oak too. Same goes for a lot of black people, which is a big reason many of them moved out too. I'm fairly convinced that "they're" not following "us" because they want to scare us farther into Livingston County.

For some odd reason? Hello... do you have a clue about the crime statistics in the city of Detroit? It's not an "odd" reason, the fears are based on facts.

Not true. The city of Detroit needs the suburbs far more than the people the suburbs need the city of Detroit.

But in all honesty it's true. I know oodles of white people in the suburbs that don't want any blacks coming around. I know very few that could care less.

They can keep trying! If they want to keep moving out to try to get away then so be it. It's their choice to do so.

Yeah, sounds like you have no problem at all with white people. At least from your post.

Because a white person at a stop light in Detroit is a sitting duck compared to the same thing in a suburb.

How come I and every other white person I know do not relate to this "sitting duck" scenario that you often claim?

Ill put the reverse on you. How come I and every other white person I know DO relate to this sitting duck scenario? After knowing people who have had violent crimes committed against them after being IN the city, actually SEEING the riff-raff, knowing what goes on, you can only hope you wont be part of it. A buddy of mine lost his EYE and part of his skull because a carjacker ran up to the drivers side window in BROAD DAYLIGHT and just SHOT thru the window at him. This was right by the "coveted" Wayne State University!

Wow, I guess I better let everyone know not to believe their own eyes and experiences. Anything else we should take at your word?
Sorry, not trying to flame you, but it's obvious to everyone but Helen Keller that Detroit is filled to the rim with crimes and various issues. But posts like yours make it sound like that's all there is to Detroit, and my experience, as well as many others, says otherwise.
