Anywhere in a few blocks' radius of Eastland is bad for sure.

There's some excellent housing stock in the S.E. corner and likewise in the North, just West of Woodward. Someone from here would know this and know how to survive amidst the adjacent slums. I'm not sure I'd recommend it for someone who doesn't know the area. I had a house there, was active in neighborhood associations and such but it was still tough going sometimes. There are decent homes there but it's not a place for the faint of heart. The Woodward corridor, including inside Highland Park, will prosper eventually but I'm not sure what they're going to do with the adjacent areas. Highland Park needs a couple of major industries to move there to shore up the tax base, until then it's going to be touch and go.
