Default Type 1 Diabetics

Has anyone else notice that lately Type 1 Diabetics seem to have been forgotten? There seems to be very little publicity, awareness, and information on the disease. I know it isn't a competition but it is kind of irritating that there seems to be a lack of information/support for Type 1's now days. IMO Type 1 and Type 2 are two vastly different illnesses and should probably be reclassified. Personally I have been touched/affected by both types considering my husband has had Type 1 for 28 years, my bother was has adult on set Type 1 and several intimidate family members have Type 2 (Mom, Dad and Sister). What's your take on this?

I think that there is a lot of hype about Type 2 because it is seen as a preventable disease - so lots of info about how to prevent/manage/reverse it. Also, there are probably a lot more Type 2 diabetics out there than there are Type 1 diabetics and numbers tend to get more attention and $...

I'm sorry that your brother and husband have to live with Type 1 and I hope that they are both doing a good job of managing the disease. It's nice that they have a person like you in their corner.
