Firstly, Andrew Lessman makes high-quality products. I take other supplements of his. It has barberry root extract. This seems to be fabulous for blood sugar level and even cholesterol.

Read the many reviews for it. I've just been diagnosed w/ pre-diabetes (& high cholesterol) TODAY & this seems fabulous!

Has any tried it?

I have posted before on Berberine. It is just as effective as Metformin and it is a natural supplement. Metformin is now synthetic but was originally plant based. If all you take is Metformin, Berberine would be a worthy substitute. Some people need other drugs though and by itself it may not be enough.

I've been diagnosed w/ pre-diabetes yesterday, so I was researching all-natural remedies. I'm not currently on any kind of meds.

This seemed good to start taking to lower my AC1. Do you think I should start taking it soon? I take other vitamins from the Andrew Lessman brand of supplements, so it shouldn't counteract w/ anything.

Berberine will help BUT diet is key.

I agree. Berberine along with a good diet is very effective. I don't use Andrew Lessman product, but purchase berberine usually from Swanson and another source, and it works as well as metformin; PLUS brings cholesterol into healthy balance. It is also antifungal. It is great stuff.

You might want to read about medications that interact with Berberine. Some very common meds interact with it.

RxList (who isn't trying to sell you anything) lists possible interactions on their website: Berberine Effectiveness, Safety, and Drug Interactions on RxList

Thanks guys! Glad to hear good things about it. Any other comments?

oldgardener, thanks for the link, but I don't take any other Rx meds at this time. But, this is great to know & I'll look through it, so I'll know for the future!

What do you suppose your doctor would say concerning Berberine? As while it may have some marginal benefit to lower Blood sugar it may have side effects that are not good for other aspects of your physical health.

It's not marginal - it worked as well or better than Metformin for me - and my doc thought it was great!

Right, I mean we take prescription meds containing all kinds of chemicals & side effects for various ailments hoping they work. Well, I think if people can find all-natural remedies & have done their share of research, & check w/ their dr, then why not try them for sure?
