When I was 22 I lost about 30 pounds without even trying I have no idea how or why the weight loss happened. About 3 years later I gained it all back. Now 12 years and 3 kids later I am trying to lose the weight and I can't.
Has this ever happened to you? Why would my body have lost all of that wieght wihtout diet or exercise and why can't it happen now?LOL

Medical disorder or calorie deficit. You don't need to exercise to lose weight. That is a myth. You just need to eat less food calories than you burn during your daily activity. What are you actually doing when you say "trying"? How long ago was the last kid born?
I tend to lose weight when I dont exercise. Ive been skinny all my life, still very athletic, but always skinnier than my friends. I have really good build of muscles so if I dont workout, I'll lose a few pounds.
I've actually noticed a trend in my weight: When I go to the gym regularly, I stay the same or even gain. If I stop going for a while, I start losing. And I tend to eat less when I workout, so....

Is it muscle?
Im pretty sure its muscle. I take it that you are a lifetime skinny person like myself.
My weight normally hovers around 180 - 185 max, but I would say most of it is muscle. If I dont workout and eat, I'll definitely drop the poundage.

Nope! Ive lost over 40lbs in the recent past. I was thinner when I was younger, but turned into a fatty as I got older. I've maintained my weight, lost a little more in the last few months - just noticed the no workout trend.
I've lost weight without really trying when my schedule got extremely hectic (worked 12 hrs/day, took classes in the evening). But I wasn't eating very much and I was constantly on the go, so I knew why I was getting skinnier.
Otherwise, losing weight has never been an effortless process for me. I gain weight pretty easily and I have to work to take it off.

My last child is 9 months old. I've cut out all sodas and have started the 30 day shred. I also watch what I eat but the weight is not budging. My second and third child are only 2 years apart and I had c-sections for all 3.

I had gained weight after marriage, around 25 pounds from the time I was 30 til 35 or so. I hadn't changed my diet but I wasn't as physically active in my job as I had been in previous jobs.
Then, six months later, and I had lost 40 pounds. I couldn't understand what was going on, because as I said, I hadn't changed my diet and was less physically active (though I was still walking a lot). I had my thyroid checked, everything looked fine. Had the rest of my hormones checked, had some blood tests, all was well. I was at 122 pounds and hated it, I felt skinny and tired - technically I was at a terrific weight for my height (5'2") but it felt horrible. The doctor told me if I went below 120 to let him know and we'd get different tests, but for now there was no reason for concern.
I gained it all back, and then some, over the next decade. It was just one of those random flukes I guess. Since I gained it back I had no reason to investigate further.
