Nicotine is a metabolic enhancer. When you stop smoking your metabolism slows down.

You will need to do things to boost it back up. Like exercise.

I agree, when I quit smoking I gained about 5-10 lbs., however, a friend of mine gained about 30 lbs. I'm not trying to scare you off, the benefits of quitting are much better, you will notice after your first week or two that you have way more energy and are less tired. After a few months, you will notice your complexion will clear up, less bags under your eyes, the tone of your skin. Try to exercise if possible. And best yet, you'll live longer!!

gallo is on a distinguished road
I stopped smoking three years ago and did not gain any weight. I might be a rare case, but it can be done.

As long as you don't substitute food for the cigarette, you'll do well. Exercise will help also! QUIT!!!!

yep, and many people replace smoking with food. but if you exercise and eat right, you should not have any problem

Journal entry:

Day four. Haven't lit up yet since I dropped it cold turkey.
Haven't gained weight, but haven't exactly lost any either

Stress level shot through the roof when the "ex" called and got me all riled up.
I jumped in the car, grabbed my lighter... a few bucks and headed to the nearest gas station. I was furious... and holy gawd I needed to smoke.
I veered to the right just in time to run into a Starbucks.... spent the rest of my morning sipping an iced caramel frapacino with whipped cream, refusing to smoke, and thinking over and over and over f*** you, f*** you, f*** you, you can beat this one, don't make him do this to you.

I CAN BEAT THIS

good job kitten! if you have the willpower to not smoke when something stressful like that happens, you should be able to do very well.

and i've heard many people say that caffeine works well for them when they feel the need to smoke; basically replacing one stimulant with another.
