I now drink seltzer and try to get almost all of my carbs from veggies. It makes a world of difference haggard
Yep, when we cut out soda's a few years ago we switched to mixing juice with seltzer or something like perrier. I just drink straight plain water or herbal tea now (tisane, technically...). Water with lemon (hot or room temp), too.
I heard these ladies at a coffee shop talking... they were right in front of me. They were talking about how they switched to tea because they were saying it was healthier than coffee. What I couldn't understand is that they were ordering tea latte's - which have milk and sugar syrup in them! Eh?

Good points. My evening "cocktails" are a couple cans of LaCroix lemon flavored mineral water. I drink my coffee in the morning black and have just plain water the rest of the day. I don't understand why people want to drink sweet stuff all the time.
I can't remember if I posted this here or in a different forum, but you can make your own soda, without any added sweetener at all. You need a seltzer-maker, some gas cartridges, water, and fruit. If you remember old 3 Stooges movies, they used to spritz soda from a seltzer-maker at each other. You can buy those in some of the better chefs' stores.
Fill it 3/4 of the way with water, squeeze in the juice of a tangerine, a lemon, and a lime, shove a cartridge on the cap, and pull the trigger over glasses filled with ice. No preservatives, no artificial ingredients, no added sugar, low calories, low carbs, no fat, and delicious natural vitamin C.
You know you can do all the above, adding your own juice, etc, with store bought plain seltzer, if you dont want to bother making seltzer.

True, but it's not as much fun
