Because jogging is less efficient it burns a little but not many more calories per mile. You burn about (this is rough) 2/3 of a calorie per pound-mile whether you walk or jog. So a 200 pound person walking or jogging for three miles burns about 400 calories. This is probably about +/- 10% or so. You're working harder but for less time jogging than you are for walking but the area under the curve is the same.
