So far I have lost some weight from WW. But to me walking is somewhat boring. Do you think I should start out walking everyday for 45 minutes? Or should i just start jogging? I can jog up to only 5 minutes. I am 5'2 233.8

When was your last physical?

If you are healthy, why don't you jog, walk, jog, walk.....but don't overdo.....you will know when you reach your limit......end it with 'walk', in order to cool down....

Perhaps you should get an Ipod and listen to music while you walk. I don't know why jogging would be any less dull. If you're going to get fit you're going to have to endure some boredom.

To me, walking is easier on my knees, my body is not built for jogging. Sounds like you are just trying to cut back on the time element.

It is so hot here that I currently go to the gym, I either do the treadmill on incline for 3 or 4 miles. Or, the bike, I like the bike, it is faster for me, can do 10 miles in 45 min or less, random hill, 5 resistance.

And yes, I would suggest that you talk to your doctor before starting any type of weight loss or exercise program.

I think you should start out walking for 20 minutes at a steady, comfortable pace.

After a week of that, increase it to 30 minutes, and increase your speed.

A week later, try some "lunging" walks on alternating days. Basically, it would feel a little like cross-country skiing; your knees are bent, taking long, fast strides. Your torso is lowered, arms swinging at the elbows to glide you forward. It looks like slow-motion running but you're working out most of your muscles.

Add a new challenge to each subsequent week. Walking can be just one part of your exercise routine. If you have access to a gym, try the arc and/or ellipses machines for no-impact "running" motion. Both are easier on your knees and spine than walking or running, but are much more of a challenge to your muscles and endurance.

I think you should lose more weight first. Jogging can be really hard on the joints as it is, and puts even more stress when you're overweight. My ex lost 100 lbs once and learned this the hard way. I agree with the poster who said to get an ipod. You could also try driving somewhere to walk in more interesting places or walking with friends. If you can find some hills to walk up and down that's a good thing too.

You could start jogging but understand that at your weight it will be very hard on your joints. Instead of trying to jog all at once maybe you could do intervals of walking and jogging. The jogging doesn't have to be long. Maybe start off with 1 minute of jogging to every 4 minutes of walking.

And for me listening to music while I do my cardio is a must. I would definitely invest in an mp3 player.

Jogging is really, really hard on your body -

I agree with PP - get and Ipod and pick up the pace a little. Or change where you walk to somewhere more interesting. Get a walking partner or join/start a walking group.

No. You need access to a pool. You will get a far better whole-body exercise session, that is virtually zero impact, and that will not get you overheated. And you need to be lifting weights. The benefits of Weightlifting are too many for me to enumerate right now. But it will help enormously with your weight control.
