Whats the best time of the day to properly weight yourself & is it best to be fully nude when doing so or what ? When i was in the army & we got weighed we had our work uniforms & combat boots on. They deducted 12 lbs for that. My weight was always well maintained in the military but once i got discharged i got lazy.
I like to weight myself in the nude when I first get up and have gone to the bathroom. Unfortunately, I get weighed again on Thursday nights at my TOPS meeting -- fully dressed and after eating and drinking liquids all day. I think the former is more telling -- and certainly more motivating!
What's fun is get naked right when I wake up, weighing myself, using the bathroom, and then reweighing myself. It's hilarious how much waste you store.
I weigh myself at a local weight watchers meeeting every sunday morning. I wear sweat pants and a t-shirt and I awlays use the same scale when I am there. It's just an omen I have.
For me - first thing in the morning, right before my shower. Not wearing much at that point.
I weigh myself daily, but that's me. I also don't have any major food issues (no bullemia, no anorexia) and don't have an OCD mindset (if I don't weigh myself in the morning, I don't freak out about it).
But I am the sort of person who can gain weight quickly, so I weigh myself daily just to get a handle on where I am and what's going on.
As long as you're consistent about time of day/amount of clothing .. you'll get an accurate trend (gaining/losing).
As far as what is the most accurate for your actual physical weight - obviously naked (or as close to it as is comfortable) and most medical sites say first thing in the morning.
If you actually know the weight of your clothes (the military probably does since everything would be pretty standard issue) - you can weigh with clothes on and subtract.
But - people often overestimate the weight of their clothes.
If I have on tshirt/jeans/sandals ... really doesn't make much more than a 1.5 lb difference. (and people often estimate 2+ lbs or more for their clothing).
I usually weigh twice a day ...I know, I'm obsessed!
Once in the morning before my shower (no clothes) and before I've eaten anything. Again at night before I got to bed and before I put my pj's on (no clothes).
Have my scale in my bathroom and I weigh myself prior to getting in the shower, obviously with no clothes on. I know you're supposed to only weigh yourself once per week, but I usually do it at least twice and sometimes more. Don't recommend that, though. It's too easy to get caught up in it and it can backfire on you in one of two directions. Mine's going in the direction most people want, but I'm trying to get it to go the other way..
