Furthermore, this topic is about corn syrup, not corn gluten, or peptides, and it is in the diet and weight loss forum, so your anecdote about needing to not take corn due to celiac is irrelevent.
As for who asked me, no one did. This is a discussion forum. We're here to discuss things. If you don't want to hear a discussion, find another place to visit. Or, put me on ignore.

You have no idea what you are talking about. Many celiacs have problems with multiple grains - of course corn does not have wheat gluten. You are a pip! You are now on ignore.

ALL celiac patients have problems with ALL grains that have gluten. Not many. All. Celiac involves a complete and total intolerance to gluten, which is a product of wheat, and certain other grains. Corn is not one of them. Corn does not have within it, any gluten, at all. Not grain gluten, not wheat gluten, not corn gluten. The term "corn gluten," as I said, is a misnomer. It isn't gluten, of any kind.

Then why didn't the obesity crisis begin 10,000 years ago, or early in the last century when vegetable oils became widely used?

I moved to the US from the UK 12 years ago. Nothing changed in my diet, I ate the same sorts of things all be it US version of in some cases (Bratwurst instead of British sausages). I put 30lbs on in 3 months so I started reading labels, corn syrup in yoghurt ..eh? yoghurt isn't a sweet treat is it ? ... corn syrup in bread, I'm aware you need sugar to activate yeast but this bread was also so full of additives and preservatives that it took nearly a month to go mouldy. These are just a few examples.
Fast forward 10 years and I was diagnosed as lactose intolerant, even a smidgen of mozzarella could bloat me and make me sick for days. Fast forward another 2 years, have to lactose thing under control, read ALL labels on foods I eat, cook meals from scratch and cant even remember the last time I even went near a McDonalds.
And then ... a visit to the UK the first hotel we stayed at only had full milk available at breakfast so I readied the lactase milk digestant and went for it .. nothing ! no reaction, no bloating. The same with the cheeses I ate and the yoghurt, no ill effects at all. I even had unpasteurised milk in my coffee and nothing!
This leads me to worry about what they are putting in our foods here, I'm trying a locally sourced organic diet to see if it will help but I still can't help worrying about the effects hormones, antibiotics and goodness knows what else goes into foods here is having on peoples health.
*Note* have to say American cheddar tastes and feels very plastic compared to a good fresh English Cheddar cheese. The things you discover after 12 years absence.

Ya right. How do you explain all the fatsos in NYC?
It's the food supply. Always knew it. Glad to hear a european confirm it.

Ehh, people in New York are pretty thin. There are fat people, but they're tourists from Oklahoma.
I do buy Irish cheese and butter though, it's just better.

This is so true, have to agree 100 o/o! The crap food that is sold in this country is disgusting.
And all the giant people lining up for it is sad.
I find it interesting that in a much earlier post, someone mentioned reasons for obesity, stating one as taking certain medications. Isn't the reason that people end up having to take many of those medications, caused by years and years of poor, unhealthy diet? Along with not getting any exercise?
I was fortunate to have gone to Europe at a young age, and am fortunate to be able to make trips over periodically. I have learned to try to emulate that lifestyle. In addition, I made a conscious choice many years ago to be healthy. I've done lots of my own research and have managed to maintain the same weight ( minus pregnancy) for my entire adult life.
But I digress. HFCS is the topic. My personal feeling is, it is evil and I try to avoid it.

Except you ate more of it (and by proxy; more calories) and gained the weight as a result.

This line here pretty much sums up why every educated poster on this forum views you as a joke and constantly takes you to school. You will happily toss aside years of peer reviewed and confirmed scientific study as being "outdated" and part of the "establishment" if it doesn't conform to your narrow beliefs. On the flip side, the words (read; anecdotal evidence) of a poster who has been on this forum less than a month, with presumably no higher level medical or science education is considered gospel and "confirms" your views.
You're not interested in knowledge of diets, you're pushing an agenda.

First off, what does that have to do with HFCS and D2mini's agenda pushing? Completely unrelated topics there.
Second, you really need to know what you are talking about, lest you look like a fool, like in this case when you use a pro-low carb story to tell someone who has used and advocates low carb diets that the "world is passing them by". Swing and a miss.
