How about depression? Severe depression. And poverty, working two or three menial jobs, often night work, which creates exhaustion. Lack of access to fresh food....ever been to a grocery store in a ghetto? Some folks don't have a big SUV to drive to Costco to buy organic kale. And BTW, Costco does not take EBT. Some folks have $200 a month to feed 4 people....that means lots of macaroni.
Yes I agree your post is offensive, as someone who has struggled with her weight all her life. I am on WW and so far lost 56 lbs. only 20 more to goal. I guess you have never had a weight problem so you feel the need to bash those who do have one.
A thin kid is thin because he makes "wise choices" and "conscious eating decisions" and has developed "healthy eating habits"?
A fat seven year old girl is fat because she is "undisciplined, unmotivated, and unwilling to accept responsibility for [her] condition"?
Children that age eat what is in the house. If they've never been served anything but fattening foods and junk, that's what they'll eat. Contrary to what some think, children are not adults. They learn by example. A seven-year-old hasn't got the sense the good lord gave them. Not yet, anyway. They want what they want when they want it.
You are obtuse when it comes to knowing about child development.
And some people do have legitimate medical issues that have led to their obesity. I have a friend with a very obese child. She gets rude comments all the time about how she is "over feeding" her child. Her child has a rare syndrome, obesity is part of the problem.
Dr. Oz? I should trust my health to a quack? I think not .....
