You can be a bit overweight and still be relatively physical fit, but that doesn't mean that the extra weight doesn't have health consequences and one wouldn't benefit from getting rid of it.

Size 8 is still pretty chunky....

A size 8 petite ( that you would wear if you were a 5'2" ) is not chunky either. S

You live in California. I understand why you would think a size 8 is chunky.

Well, if you say so.....but size 8 isn't particularly small so either one has a lot of muscle mass (i.e., does a lot of body building) or they have some chunk. Regardless, wasn't suggesting that size 8 was "fat" (or even unhealthy) just that its not lean. As such I don't understand size 8 as a goal....especially for someone that is not old.

Yes I say so. You say the most outrageous things and make these all knowing pronouncements about things you have no way of knowing about people you have never seen. But then this is how you spend your time and how you get your kicks. You have no way of knowing how lean anyone is or their bone structure, age or level of muscle tone. As a mater of fact I am 62, nearly 5'10" and am at my ideal body weight for my age, weight and bone structure...I weigh 140 lbs. Now if you think that is chunky or not lean....well you are mistaken as you often are. Don't you ever get tired of saying ridiculous things?

Hey, I'm just a guy - but I'm also a trainer who takes women's measurements to track their progress. A little internet surfing yielded size eight measurements of 32-34 up to 36.5 for bust, 24-26 up to 28.5 for waist, and 33-35.5 up to 38.5 for hips. In my experience, those measurements don't qualify as "chunky" for a taller women - particularly if she has an athletic build.

"Bone structure" is a minor issue and I made a caveat for someone that was very built. But your average American women of average height isn't built and as such your average size 8 women is a bit chunky.

I really don't care whether you are lean or not, I was making a general comment. Weight considerations are a bit different for seniors vs younger folks. Seniors start to lose muscle mass as they age, etc.

When I say "chunky" I don't mean fat or overweight, I mean they aren't lean and there will be noticeable body fat unless the person is very built which is unusual for women. If you pinch the belly of your typical size 8 women you'll have no trouble finding fat.
