Review your diet by keeping a food log. Eliminate the junk and focus on whole, fresh foods. Start lifting weights. As we age, we lose muscle tone if we are not active. Less muscle tone = slower metabolism. Hormones can also play a role as well. Find an exercise routine that combines cardio and weights and clean up your diet and the 15 lbs will go away. Expect it to take between 13 and 20 weeks.
As we get older, metabolism naturally slows down and our caloric requirements are increasingly reduced.
Seriously; I am also in my mid-50s and probably eat half of what I used to in my 30s in order to keep my same weight (but not shape, LOL.)
There's no pill or product. Eat less/better, add or increase exercise...boring, but that's really about all you can do.
Trust me. I know what I eat. I am post menopausal and I do work out thirty minutes a day - at least.
Perhaps I should have posted this on supplements. I am not looking for a "magic pill". Since I am not a big eater, I don't think that a "diet pill" would help.
I'm just looking for a vitamin or mineral that would stimulate my metabolism. I know that hormone fluctuation in women can cause weight gain and lethargy. I am also an RN (not practicing by choice).
It could also be connected to FM, that I was diagnosed with.

Well I wasn't kidding when I suggested coffee...google that.
Look, if you are working out and watching what you eat yet still gaining weight...then you need to eat even less, or work out for more than a mere 30 minutes a day (doesn't seem much at all to me). Or have your thyroid checked.

No such animal. Have you had your thyroid checked lately?
I bought the herb ma huang, also known as the plant they produced ephedra from.
No need to give me a bad time, I know how to use things responsibly. My primary reason is the FM, it makes you so lethargic and foggy brained and it helps.
Also syneburn which has 10 milligrams of bitter orange. Not taken together.

Any ideas? I am in my mid 50s, never been over weight in my life, but 15 lbs has crept up on me. No. I am not eating more.
Any over the counter ideas?
If there were an OTC remedy that sped up your metabolism without giving you a heart attack we'd all be taking it. It doesn't exist. Like the rest of us post-menopausal women who are trying not to gain weight, you're going to have to change up your diet and exercise routine. Eat less junk and look into weight training.
