Only whole wheat bread has a lot of fibre. Most people it seems, eat white bread which has no fibre. Most people do not eat anywhere enough fibre. It's not just a question of how much fibre one eats but how much one eats with each meal in proportion to that meal. Any fibre is better than nothing though.

White bread also has fiber, but not nearly as much as whole grain products.

Suddenly increasing fiber can cause gas and bloating, which goes away in time.

Softer, more frequent stools are common with a high fiber diet.
