Any diet, every diet has its gimmicks. There are rules to follow. The rules are there to keep one on the "straight and narrow" WHILE ONE IS LEARNING CONCEPTS OF GOOD NUTRITION. I follow Weight Watchers but do not base my life on counting the points although I do count them. In following points I am seeing cause and effect of portions that are to large, or not large enough, foods very high in points that I must decide if it "is worth it" to eat; this way I end up choosing a lower point, health option instead. Application is everything. Gimmicks offered to learn how to apply a concept is a good learning strategy. Don't listen to naysayers. Pick a diet plan and follow it. Learn from it. Stay on it - even after you have reached your weight goal. Then, you will not gain weight afterwards. It is not the plan that causes you to lose weight, it is your own motivation.
