I never used to have the will power to stick to any diet or healthy eating plan. I finally jumped on the band wagon last february and said it's time to get serious. I joined Weight watchers and lost 43 lbs so far. got 30 more to go. My husband is overweight and has some health issues so we both started taking better care of ourselves. He's lost 85 lbs so far. My skin looks better and I am down 3 pants sizes. I am shopping in a regular store now. I don't crave certain foods like I used to. In fact chocolate does not appeal to me anymore and I am a chocolate freak. I have also avoided certain foods because they are high in fat. I only eat red meat once a month. I do give in to some cravings like pizza and fries because they are my favorite.

Obviously if you drink a great deal of water (that has no calories), and have water retention, you will gain weight, but that is not the point here.

Exercise or not, (though obviously exercising makes it easier), as long as you consume fewer calories than you burn, you are absolutely guaranteed to lose weight.
This is only true short term.
Your body is smarter than you. It's designed to protect you from starving.
If you starve your body (put less energy into it than it consumes) you will lose weight only temporarily. Once your body catches on to what you are doing it will slow down, conserve energy, burn less, store more. You get fed up and end up gaining it all back and sometimes more.

No diet that restricts calories at a deficit level will work long term.

There are two parts to WILLPOWER when people think of it in diet terms.
1) Willpower to not eat
2) Willpower to eat the right things

If you have a good understanding of #2, you do not need to worry about #1.

Lots of good info can be found on this website.

I am lazy, and I like to eat food. That is a self realization I have in regards to diet and exercise. The problem is...I have to make some drastic changes in my lifestyle, or start with the insulin. This issue is seriously affecting my health.
