This is only true short term.
Your body is smarter than you. It's designed to protect you from starving.
If you starve your body (put less energy into it than it consumes) you will lose weight only temporarily. Once your body catches on to what you are doing it will slow down, conserve energy, burn less, store more. You get fed up and end up gaining it all back and sometimes more.
No diet that restricts calories at a deficit level will work long term.
There are two parts to WILLPOWER when people think of it in diet terms.
1) Willpower to not eat
2) Willpower to eat the right things
If you have a good understanding of #2, you do not need to worry about #1.
