Well, its true that the obesity has skyrocketed, however it is not due to wheat. It is due to over eating and sedentary lifestyle.
You lose weight when you burn more calories than you consume. Wheat does not factor in. Having an intolerance to wheat is one thing. Blaming it for our obesity epidemic is another. Why dont you present some peer reviewed studies that have evidence to back up that claim.

The obesity epidemic exists because of OVEREATING, little to no exercise, sedentary jobs, the proliferation of restaurants encouraging overeating (Chinese buffets anyone? such things don't exist in China), kids hanging around on ipads instead of exercising, parents encouraging their kids to overeat... I can go on and on but instead we're going to blame a grain for why this country's waistline is expanding. I gained weight from overeating. I ate lots of meat, carbs, fat.. I ate lots of everything. And then I did nothing to burn it off. It's no mystery that I packed on seventy pounds...

Empty calories devoid of life and nutrition, are not satisfying, and stimulate cravings to eat more.

Yeah, we just came back from over 10 days of eating out, and I will NOT kick out a perfectly cooked breadbasket when brought to my table.

99% were non-chain, so we were eating GOOD food, but a lot more bread and pasta then we would normally eat.

BUT, we would average 2 meals a day, and split a plate for one or both of those meals. Why? The portions are huge, it is completely unnecessary! Sometimes we added an appetizer, but hardly ever added a dessert (wanted to, just too full).

So all that added wheat.... hardly any of our regular exercise..... no weight gain. We just ate reasonable amounts.

That is very true, but many carbs are full of nutrients and fiber. When people mistake all crappy foods as 'carbs' there is huge disconnect happening.
