ADIPEX pills!
Hello everyone I just wanted to know if there's anyone out there that has took or currently taken Adipex pills. I was on them and they did Work Great. I actually lost about 25 lbs but the downfall was they started giving me shortness of breath a lot followed by some slight chest pain. I've heard that they overpump your heart and every month I was going into the doctor's office and he'd check my blood pressure, thyroids, etc..,etc... and even gave me some side effects, but I don't recall that and wanted to know if anyone else has experienced this?

Yeah I took it for about 3 months they told me that it would elevate my blood pressure. Yes I did loose weight with the Adipex, this was October-December of last year. I lost about 25 lbs. Congrats by the way on that. There's not a better feeling than loosing weight. But on the other hand I did experience alot of the problems that you are describing. Even today almost one year later I still have trouble breathing. And I beleive that I developed acid reflux with this as well. I did not go back for another visit for this medication. You *will* go through withdrawl periods as well when you stop taking it... Sometimes they were severe. I looked to other medication to fill that void of not taking Adipex. It is a very addictive drug. I read online about how it works. It is horrible on the heart. It makes the valves in the heart weaker. So eventually after taking it for so long. The heart valves are weak, leading to heart attack. I eventually figured I would rather be fat than dead. I hope that everything works out for you. Just be careful with this strong medicine.

I took it 7 years ago and lost 30 lbs in 6 months. I didn't have problems with breathing but the potential side effect of damage to the heart and pulmonary arteries scared me, so I stopped.

Is this drug prescribed specifically for weight loss or is it for another condition and the weight loss is a side effect?

I took adipex when I used to live in Texas after I had my second son 5 years ago. I lost about 20 pounds in 3mos. I cant afford to buy a new wardrobe and really just wanna get back down to my size 12 I am currently a 16.

This is phentermine. It is an amphetamine. Can be dangerous. I believe due to its addictive nature and the fact that it looses effectiveness after about 3 months, it is only labeled for a 12 week course.

Gee, go figure: shortness of breath and chest pains from taking what is basically speed on a daily basis for several weeks! And I'm sure if you'd have taken your pulse rate during that time you'd have found it to be highly elevated as well. Oh and let me guess: you had trouble sleeping as well, but probably merely shrugged that off as a minor side-effect and took another pill, like Ambien to sleep.
People, take it from a personal trainer and lifeliong athlete: the only healthy way to lose weight and keep it off is through diet and exercise. It's simply math really: you gotta take in less calories than you burn everyday to safely lose weight. Diets are temporary, as the name implies. What you want is "Lifestyle change."
