What exactly does the phrase ' I eat right ' mean?
You know the old mantra: "Eat right and exercise".
What I'd like to know is, what exactly does 'eat right' mean?

Eating right means "portion control" and quality food, like these guys below and the Rochester Garbage Plate.
Just follow this advice, and you get the chicks

Portion control is part of it. Eating right has a lot to do with food choices.
You need a balanced diet with whole foods, not processed foods. Whole foods are fresh meats, fresh or frozen vegetables and fruits. Processed foods are any foods that are prepared in a factory and packaged for sale in the grocery store. When you must buy processed foods, like bread, buy the product with the least ingredients listed on the package. Eat whole grain carbs instead of simple carbs. Get your sugars from fruits, not processed sugar. Buy only 100% fruit juice, not juice with added sugar. Limit carbonated drinks even if they're sugar free. Have fat reduced dairy products and stay away bad cholesterol foods like sour cream and eat good cholesterole like seafood.
I remember reading a thread started by a mother whose son was alergic to milk, soy, nuts, and a bunch of other things. She thought the world was over. Meanwhile, he wasn't allergic to a whole food diet of unprocessed meat, fruits, vegetables, and certain grains. That's healthy eating. It's the way we should feed our children.
Here are healthy food diagrams with pictures:
Here's unhealthy food:

"If man made it, dont eat it". Jack Lalanne.
Eating right means:
lots of veggies - especially green ones
Whole wheat pastas, bread, oatmeal
Brown rice
lots of water
lean meats (not fried)
Snack healthy - small portions of fruit, unsalted nuts, almond butter and jelly on wheat, broccoli
Eating wrong:
Fast food
sodas
fried foods
greasy foods
Man made foods
Canned foods (high sodium)
Frozen dinners (high sodium)
White food (white rice, white breads, white pastas)
Sugary drinks

I'd like to add that eating on a schedule is important too.

Yeah, I agree with this.
For a long while I ate no meats either, but I have gone back to some lean meat. It helps with hunger for me.
Many refer to this as "eating clean."

Eating right means a high-fiber, low-fat diet rich in deeply-colored vegetables of all kinds, to maximize your vitamin and mineral intake as well as flavor and enjoyment.
Maximize the NEW FOUR FOOD GROUPS:
Vegetables
Fruits
Legumes
Whole grains
Everything else -- meat, dairy, eggs, sugar, grease -- are to be used as condiments if you use them at all.

Huh? I eat when I get hungry. I'd never be able to eat "on a schedule"!

I also eat when I'm hungry, never on schedule.
For me, I eat a whole foods plant based diet. Which means no animal anything. I eat lots of greens, veggies, fruit, limited whole grains. And I mix together lots of recipes and am never bored. And my delicious green smoothies.
Plus regular daily exercise, it all goes together.
