What Causes Morbid Obesity, and Can It Be Overcome?

Manuel Uribe hasn't left his bed or his apartment in Monterrey, Mexico, in five years.

That's because less than a year ago, at 1,200 pounds, he was considered by many to be the heaviest man in the world.

"I used to eat normal, just like all Mexicans do. … Beans, rice, flower tortilla, corn tortilla, French fries, hamburgers, subs and pizzas, whatever regular people eat. I worked as a technician, repairing typewriters, electronic calculators and computers. So I worked on a chair. It was a sedentary life," he said.

Well it's no mystery. The guy ate alot of tortillas, french fries deep fried in trans fats, hamburgers, pizza, duh! All the most saturated fatty foods. That will cause morbid obesity if he eats alot of that, and with his weight at 1200 lbs before he started dieting, he ate a helluva alot to get that fat.
If he cut out ALL the saturated fat, animal products plus vegetable oils, refined carbs, and ate a whole foods plant based diet, the weight would melt off of him, sedentary or not.
If that dude survives, he will still have to have expensive surgery to remove all that extra ton of hanging skin, and that's a dangerous surgery all by itself.
