Finally on the right track and want to stay there
Hi. I'm 47 and am 5'7 1/2 (lost some height) and weigh 238. I have had hypertension on and off since i was 18 and now I have been on BP meds for the past 2 years. I have metabolic syndrome and was on diabetic meds (a low dose) for 18 months until my glucose(A1c) stabilized and i was taken off it a few months ago. I also have low cholesterol, low total, good HDL's and LDL's but my triglycerides have been high. I also have a fatty liver. I do not drink smoke or have any bad habits. I don't even eat sweets or dessert foods
I was taken off the metformin because i had been biking on a daily basis and that helped. Unfortunately the biking did not reduce my abdominal fat so i joined the cheapest gym i could find and have been plugging away for the past month. normally i hate gyms and have often quit out of frustration but my biking regimen helped discipline me to stay in the gym
I am burning between 400-450 calories per day(up from 300 the past 3 weeks), about 6 days per week. i could go back a second time for more on my days off but it's a hassle because I'm in an area where driving and parking is frustrating. so for now i just do it once a day. i do expect to increase my burning of calories soon. i am confident that will happen
i was also told to eliminate the half and half from my coffee which may be contributing to the weight. i am also on lasix with a potassium supplement so i don't get tired. i notice my legs are already less swollen and i seem to have a lot more energy lately so i'm very happy about that
i have been eating less so it's no problem
what i now want to do is do my workout prior to breakfast and work instaed of at the end of the workday because i get home too late and i feel too hungry and cranky, so i have some questions about how to incorporate that
i would like to shower after each workout but i was just never into the showering- in- public scene. i don't think this gym's showers are private stalls(I haven't looked). i don't perspire enough to smell bad when i get dressed into my regular clothes but on the other hand i don't want to take any chances bofore going to work.
would using alcohol wipes or wet ones be sufficient? i know this seems silly but i wonder rhat other people do before work
the other thing i am concerned about is when the weather gets colder in 2 months will it be dangerous to go outside in the cold after having worked out or showered? can you really catch pneumonia from that or is not really true? i felt a sore throat last night(but it's OK now) after and i wonder if my workout sweats and then going outside (tho i realize it's not that cold yet) will get me sick(my resistance is pretty good).
please share
thx
