However, due to recent medical issues discussed in another thread, I am no longer able to eat fish and stay feeling optimum. . . and many other things that some vegetarians can, unfortunately, which is forcing me into being a Vegan which is a very, very difficult transition for me, even coming from standard vegetarianism.
JeepGirl...I think you either do not understand or you are trying some doublespeak to backpeddle. I have followed your posts here and they indicate your misunderstanding of what a vegetarian is.

Follow the above quoted conversation. I said that when someone eats fish (anyone, not you in particular), they are not a vegetarian. You replied that, no, that would make them not a vegan. This and your following paragraph implies that you think that when one stops eating fish, you go from a vegetarian to becoming a vegan. When in fact, once you stop eating fish, then and only then do you become a vegetarian. When you then stop consuming any animal products whatsoever, do you become a vegan.

That's not at all how it's categorized in any vegetarian communities I have and currently belong to. I understand that is the basic social understanding of it, but that is not the case. It is not black and white. I once thought it was many years ago.

A Vegan does not eat any animal products. Whilst, a vegetarian can eat fish, eggs/dairy, however avoids any types of meat. Both are "vegetarians," except different types of vegetarians, both sharing in common of no meat.

Thousands of vegetarian groups are broken down into these above categories, thousands of very strict Vegan groups are not.

Ah, you are not familiar with me, nice to meet you. I never back peddle.

I don't need clues; I can comprehend two simple dictionary definitions and am able to draw conclusions based upon those definitions. A vegetarian does not eat the flesh of any animal. A fish is an animal. Therefore, a vegetarian does not eat fish. Pretty simple logic. Anyone ... well, almost anyone, I guess ... could figure it out.

Fish is meat.

So you're just babbling aimlessly to be heard. As usual.

You know what? Never mind. Debating with people who can't read for comprehension is no fun. I do apologize profusely to the OP for having a part in hijacking this thread.

Please provide links to just a few of the thousands of vegetarian groups that eat fish.

The most popular Vegetarian magazine, Vegetarian Times, has no fish recipes. Why would that be?

I've already provided links to the largest and oldest vegetarian groups that confirm vegetarians don't eat fish.

This is as ridiculous of a conversation as someone arguing that they are a pilot when they don't fly a plane.

Why not go to a group locally to where you live to speak with different types of Vegetarians? You know how to Google to find one. There is no pis*ing contest about it.

Although I eat as a Vegan now, every single vegetarian member of CD who does eat fish and does not eat meat, is indeed a branched classified vegetarian.

Venture out. Explore. Expand your horizons.

I have talked to many vegetarians here in Portland as well as in other places I've lived (LA, Pittsburgh, NYC, etc). Half of my friends still are vegetarians and they do not eat fish. The largest local vegetarian group here in Portland, Northwest Veg, does not condone eating fish.

But you are right. Vegetarians eat fish. You know what? I'm am going to start saying I'm an astronaut. Not because I meet the criteria of the definition, but because its just what I want to call myself.

Sincerely,

LeftCoastee

Astronaut LeftCoastee, I find it fascinating how every non-Vegan/Vegetarian always knows "many" Vegans. Yet, many Vegans/vegetarians only know a very small handful until they become active either socially or as an activist in local and/or national groups, considering the fact that it's a much smaller community.

I got my chuckle for the day with that one.

Bring me back some rock off Mars on your next trip. That would be really cool. Heck, when you come to FL for your launch, stop by, I will bring you to my group.

If you eat fish you're a Pescatarian. Geezus I can't even believe this is a debate!

If that's not what a Pescatarian is then what are they?
