Why has my thyroid destroyed itself? Answer: I USED XENADRINE FOR ONLY 2 MONTHS AT THE TIME EVERY 3 YEARS. As little as this has been enough for my thyroid to go into autoimmunization as it has been 'thinking' it's operating at a far too efficient rate so better destroy some of the healthy tissue to turn 'turn down' this rate.
I NOW HAVE PRACTICALLY NO THYROID AND HAVE TO TAKE THYROXIN FOR THE REST OF MY LIFE.

1. It's not likely that the "suggested dose" of Xenadrine for 2 months every 3 years is the culprit of a permanent thyroid disorder.
2. You're making a lack of thyroid function out to be a bigger deal than it is. Levothyroxin in the generic is cheap (around $30 for 2 months worth), has zero side effects, and does for your body exactly what your thyroid did when it was functioning properly. It's a little pill, so even if you have a strong gag reflex it's no big deal. It's smaller than an unpopped popcorn kernel, and you just take one every day. If you forget a day, you probably won't even notice any problems. If you skip a few days you'll feel lethargic and possibly a little muscle-achey. Take a pill when you remember, and the next day you'll feel fine again.
Really - no need to scream your angst melodramatically. It's one of the more benign problems you could experience, as a result of taking a diet pill. Be glad it didn't damage your heart or brain function.
