I like how the author of that plan keeps up with the comments. You'll see that he was still active back in February of this year -- and he first posted the article in June 2007! Every so often he comes back on and responds to peoples' posts, offers encouragement, etc. That's nice to see. And I also like how so many people post (in the comments) that they tweaked the plan a little to suit them and their progress/fitness -- i.e., repeating certain weeks. That suggests that the plan provides a doable framework, but is still open to individualization. And I also like that so many of the posters admit that they are obese, and yet the plan has gotten them moving and running. What a nice endorsement and indicator of effectiveness!
PS: Do read the comments, because I found that many of them provide helpful tips. One woman posted that her phone has an app with a timer. So she can program the timing intervals into her phone, put the phone in her pocket, and go. The phone will chime when the 2 minutes is up...then the 4 minutes is up...then the 2 minutes, etc. So there's additional good stuff in the comments.

If you google the Couch to 5K training plan, that is a nice easy transition to running/jogging too.
