Someone repped me recently, asking where I purchased Vetmedin for my dog, who had congestive heart failure & died in August.
She took 2 pills a day, so with 50 pills in a bottle, that lasted just over 3 weeks.
The vet charged $61/bottle.
Costco pharmacy charged $50.
Drs. Foster & Smith mail order charged $40, that included tax & shipping was always free. They were always prompt & reliable with my order, & very kind when I called them to cancel the last order because she died. I was very impressed with them.

Thanks for this Marcia. We just found out this week (after suspecting for months) that our 12 year old beagle has congestive heart failure. Our usual vet didn't pursue the reasons for her cough and trouble breathing at night, even though he confirmed by x-ray that her heart was enlarged. After a rough night with her after some minor surgery, we took her to an internal medicine specialist vet who had more advanced imaging technology, and he confirmed what it was.
He put her on lasix and vetmedin. We bought the initial dose from the specialty vet just because we wanted to get her on it as quickly as possible. In the past we've bought expensive (!) cushings meds for a previous dog from 1-800-pet-meds, but we now have another option thanks to your post.
The vet has given our sweet girl *maybe* a year. We know vetmedin won't "fix" what's wrong, so our goal is just want to keep her as comfortable and happy as possible in that time. Did you find vetmedin helped? Did your dog have any side effects? Did your pup also take lasix?
This our first dog with heart failure, so we are not quite sure what to expect. I'd love to hear from anyone who has faced this about what to expect and other things we should be doing to help make her time here as good as we can.

How long does vetmedin start to work?
Our dog was in distress last week after minor surgery, and our regular vet gave her lasix. That made an almost immediate difference.
The specialty vet, after doing the echo cardiogram, reduced the amount of lasix (by half) and added vetmedin. She has been on it for this combo for three days now. Our dog seems to be doing OK, but I haven't noticed a huge difference. In fact, this morning, I'm noticing that she is "wheezing" a bit while napping (nothing like where she was last week after the surgery though).
So, I'm wondering what types of effects we should expect with vetmedin, and when those effects will be noticeable.
People have been getting really good results from using whole plant high CBD/low THC cannabis oil that will not get your dog high (The CBD counteracts the psychoactive effects of the THC) as it acts as an anti-inflammatory (Cannabis has stopped the progression of my 'terminal' vascular disease 15-16 years beyond diagnosis)
Off-course research that it doesn't contradict the pharmaceuticals.
So sorry you're facing this but at least she's with a loving family. Blessings.
