My husband took him to the vet this morning, but I'm curious if you all might have any ideas....

I picked my boy up from boarding on Sunday afternoon and they told me he had a case of diarrhea but was getting better. Welllllll it wasn't getting better I stayed home with him on Monday and he seemed to be better by Tuesday. Wednesday I came home to vomit (it looked like a lot of grass, and he NEVER eats grass) and sometime through the night he treated my living room carpet to some serious diarrhea modern art.

Any ideas? He really has only been sick before when we changed his food. The food the boarding house feeds him has never made him sick before.

He just looks so sad

Is the food that the kennel gave him different that what you normally feed him? If it is, that could be part of the problem. Switching food back and forth like that usually will cause diarria.

Glad he is on the way to the vet. Let us know what the vet says.

Thanks! I'll try the pumpkin. The vet said she couldn't find anything wrong with him after taking samples and running tests, but she gave us some canned food and pills to calm his tummy, so we'll see if that works. And yeah, I'll definitely send him with his own food next time, just in case that was the issue.

Sometimes one or another of mine develops diarrhea out of nowhere - no changes in anything. My vet gave me a big bottle of metronidazole and I give one pil twice a day for 5 days. It stops it by the 2nd pill. One of my dogs apparently has a nervous temperament and he gets sick after I've been out of town and he's had a pet sitter.

Could have been the stress from boarding. Well wishes on a speedy recovery to your furry family member!

Stress and heat can be a factor in this. Specially if have a dog like Southern belle has... Extreme heat notice my dogs eat less but drink more which can cramp em up and give squirts also. Hopefully test say nothing wrong and was the nervousness from being away from family is all.

Could he have swallowed something and it's in his intestines? Is there any blood in the stool? My beagle just had a recent bout of diarrhea and vomiting (with blood) and it turned out she swallowed a broken balloon.

My dogs occasionally have diarrhea and then will eat grass to throw up (usually after I just steamed the carpet). It seems like one gets it and then the next one.

Glad your baby is OK. Probably just stress or the food like all the folks here suggested. I take my dogs food when they are boarded. It is cheaper plus I know they won't have any problems when they come home.
