Some out there want to get into rescue, but cannot afford to do the fostering with vet bills and such and have limit of animals, there is another way to help.
Animal rescue railroads are always looking for drivers. It does cost gas and such but not have to take every run that comes along, or do every weekend. Times rescues have hard time filling them up and even if only twice a year you can help it is greatly appreciated and this way saving a dog from hell or death. Yahoo groups has many rescue railroads or just google and get on a list. Warning I belong to 2 and get emails from many different ones as most want cross posting to fill all spots. I have done from 1 dog to 7 dogs and 2 cats in a trip which usually are about 1 hour trips and then bathroom/water breaks and hand off. Some groups look for overnights for rescue railroad runs. Just another way to help if can.
Thanks for posting. Keeps me happy and I know the rescues I've done - well, I just have to believe - are happy. I have only heard back from a few, but those very few keep me going, 'cause I can't do it without believing in the wonderful homes they will have... pipe-dreamer, I know.
nope .... i think that is what keeps us ALL going.....
