Thank you to everyone for sharing your experiences and support. We got them heartworm tested and neutered yesterday; yet we only brought one home. We have a really mellow pack and one of the 2 new ones just wasn't going to work. Our vet explained that the attacks/fights would not change even after neutering and could possibly increase and cause harm to the others as he would fight to be alpha (he never understood that I'm the alpha). The particular dog in question is definitely a one-dog type of guy.

Cried all day yesterday but DH and I knew it was the right decision. Vet says we HAVE to put ourselves first and walking about breaking up fights is not a good quality of life for anyone. If we don't take care of OUR quality of life, it will lessen the quality of life that the pets deserve. That made sense and made the decision easier.

Sorry Rascal... at least you're healthy and adoptable and he may qualify for the Pets from Paradise program (get him off-island to a no-kill). Sadly, as another poster said, Delta would be preferred but limited flights from STX. AA.com pretty much has the state-side monopoly and I can't trust them.

Again, thanks to all and I'm thankful that at least Buster Brown "man about town" will be with us to hopefully live a long and happy life.

My philosophy on dogs is the same as it is on children...they should not outnumber the adults in the house.

LOL - I find my dogs much easier to train and manage than my kids. They listen a lot better too
