In a pinch, we make the dogs omelets.

We have one dog with food allergies, and eggs are totally safe for her. And they love 'em.

We don't do it every day. Just if we're out of their special food (which, thanks to my wife, rarely happens).

Now, when I was a teenager, I housesat for my neighbors...THEY made their two dogs omelets every morning and expected me to do the same. They even used that carton of 'healthy' egg white stuff...

T&Cgal, have you made it out or are your pets now accustomed to people food and refusing their kibble?

Made it out today--thanks to the Subaru which was able to plow through 1-2 feet of new snow!

Thank you all for the suggestions. It was good to hear how well so many here feed their dogs. Not all dogs are so fortunate. Hobbs seems grateful to get any food--he was so bony when we adopted him and probably had to find his own food in his past life--doubt he'll ever become picky.

My father treated his dog like a human...Prince had a home cooked meal evernight for dinner....Prince especially loved, scrambled hamburg, mashed potatoes and green beans.

That is the trick I use as well. Especially with puppies, I always keep a bag of baby carrots in the refrigerator, ready to stuff one into their mouth the instant they start inappropriately chewing on something.

when I find myself in this predicament I usually give them some lame excuse about how i was really busy at work , traffic was bad , had alot on my mind and that I really, REALLY meant to go to the store and then promise that I will get something extra special the next time I'm at the store. they're smart dogs ,but they usually buy it because they are trusting and they believe what I tell them.
