Three golden retrievers need new home
We have 3 purebred goldens that we need to find new homes for. Losing our home, and have to move in with family that can not have pets. Don't want to take them to SPCA... but have to find new home(s). There are 2 males, 1 female (mother, father, and son). One male and the female are 2 years old; younger one is 1 year old.
We live in central Delaware, and will consider all options.

Have you looked into Golden Retriever rescue organizations in your area? There seem to be several that cover SE Pennsylvania and Delaware. Probably a superior option to SPCA. Are these field line dogs? Show dogs? Registration status? Health status? Pictures? More info?

I agree. Call a rescue. Are they completely vetted - all vaccinations including rabies up to date, current negative heartworm test, spayed / neutered, recent de-worming? That will help.
How long do you have before you have to leave your house? Have you looked into a private rental that will allow you to keep them? Have you looked into a family member(s) or friends to keep them for you until you're back on your feet and can bring them back home?
As a last resort, have you contacted no kill shelters? Delaware is pretty good with rescue / adoption as opposed to purchasing. Most people up there have pulled their head out of their *** and know that supporting BYB is wrong. I'm certainly hoping the 'son' dog you have is from an accidental breeding and you weren't pimping out your dogs to make yourself a few bucks. And I hope you've corrected that problem by spaying and neutering them since then.

Yes, the dogs are all current with the vet. And the female has been "fixed" so no more accidents in that department. The breeding was indeed an accident.... we had no idea the parents would/could breed that young!
Thanks for the links... I will check into them right away. Not sure how much time we have... mortgage company changes on a daily basis, it seems. I just know it takes a while to get this done, and did not want to wait until the last minute so another home is an option.

Glad it was accidental and you weren't doing it on purpose.
The fact that you're still early in the foreclosure is great news. It takes months for them to foreclose and get a court order for you to be removed. Contact those rescues now and let them know you'll keep them as long as you can if they'll just get them listed and try to find them homes in the meantime. Being fully vetted is a blessing for them. You should have plenty rescues willing to help you out under these circumstances. I'll be happy to list them on my site if you want.
You'd be shocked how many people call me and tell me their home was foreclosed and they're living in vehicles or with family and had to abandon their pets when they were removed from the property. Months before they knew it was coming and I guess they figured the pet fairy would show up and fix it for them.

My heart goes out to the OP and I echo Golden Rescues. People really do love to adopt Goldens. I'm so sorry the OP is in the situation she describes, and feel for the family as they are considering their dogs while in the midst of such difficulties.

I'm sorry for your situation as its becoming all to common in this economy. There are now rescues that will hold your dogs until you are back on your feet and can reclaim them. I'll contact a few of my friends in rescue tomorrow and DM you some contact names & numbers if you are interested. Good luck to you and I hope that you will be back on your feet soon. Its very tough for a lot of people right now so please don't think you are alone it this!

Thanks everyone for the encouragement! We have phone calls out to the rescue places nearby; I am waiting to hear back. With the impending snow storm, I am sure they are busy getting things squared away where they are.
I do hope mrs1885 is right in that it takes several months for a foreclosure process. You hear stories about banks being more aggressive in these hard times and not working with people. Our mortgage company has been very unsympathetic (as I am sure they have heard our story way too many times from others) and are already playing hardball. Doesn't help that we've only been here a little over 2 years; not enough of a relationship or vested interest in the loan balance.
Will check in, and Va-Cat I would be very interested in contacts if you have some. Thanks for the help!
Take care, everyone, and have a good afternoon! Mary
