I would have kept quiet and made notes without them knowing. Then go home and report them. After doing this I would keep tabs on them and keep coming to purchase some little something just to check up on them. This way I could eventually find out where the animals come from and find out if they are being brought there sick or do they get sick after being in the store. Immediately letting them know how I feel only gives them the advantage. I much prefer to watch and report silently so I could help them and other animals more in the long run.

LOL, this place is becoming like the politics forum. We go from, did I do the right thing? to the Jersey Shore, to Chileans, to Italian heritage, to having smart husbands (oh, if I'd only!)...gotta love it!

First we have worms coming out of puppy butts, now we have bees up inside of some people's butts.

Kudos to you for sticking up for the dogs. I would have had to say something too. You definitely did the right thing on reporting them too.

I agree with you. Say nothing but immediately contact the ASPCA and get direction from them. If you didn't buy anything defective from the store, the BBB is worthless. My guess is you could also report it to your local health department but the best start - ASPCA.

Good for you for reporting.
