While everyone else's dogs are frolicking in the snow, we're back to summer temps here in San Diego, so I took the boys by the pool for the first time to see how they like it. PC doesn't like to actually swim, he just likes to stand on the first step. Note how he tests with his tiny little paw, to make sure the step is actually there and he won't drown!

MB thought he died and went to heaven. His entire body shook when I opened the gate. He can swim without a life vest, but it was his first time in a new pool so I wanted him to get used to knowing where the steps are. After a few times of going after the ball, he came right to the step so he got the hang of it pretty quickly. We're thinking of getting one of those dog step things for the deep end for MB, but I have to do some research since I have no idea what the options are.

Here are a couple of pictures (they are terrible because it was the middle of the day, very sunny, and tons of shadows) and 2 videos. The first of PC being so brave (ha!) and going onto the first step. The 2nd of MB swimming, and trying to find the steps.

They're not supposed to be good swimmers and PC will sink without a life vest. MB? He shocked everyone when we took him to the beach and he ran into the ocean after another dog, when its owner threw a ball! He swims extremely well without a life vest, and doesn't sink. He hasn't seen the ocean until he came to live with us, so it was quite shocking. Here's a video in the open water, with no vest...he's definitely a water dog!

PC would love it! Not sure about MB, I'm fairly certain that if his previous owners couldn't bother to drive a few miles to the beach with him, they probably never took him to see snow. We wanted to go this weekend, since an hour away there is snow, but with this heat it might melt. I want MB to see it at least once this year!

Awesome shots! MB is quite the swimmer...and now I am super jealous and depressed from this cold (now dirty) snow. But at least Sydney is enjoying it
