Since I'm 50-something....

I was happy when he clarified that he is talking about a FUR-baby

A co-worker who is in APBT rescue showed him a pic of a beautiful boy that needs a good home. From what he has been told the dog is about 6 y/o, as sweet as can be and a total velcro dog! We are going to talk about it more tonight and then we will see...... Oh wow....I may become a mother again soon!

I sort of had that same first reaction as LTTP but then I thought Oh I bet it is a dog not a human baby!

On of my coworkers who is in his late 50's just became a new dog dad. His dog died about 10 yrs ago and now he is remarried with a teenage step daughter. He was talking about getting a young puppy but those of us with dogs talked him out of that so he got a year old rescue. I think he is very grateful he listened as even this year old pup is more work then he remembered. He keeps saying Wow maybe I am too old to be a new dog dad! He works 3 nights a week like I do and his wife works days so he called me just as I was climbing into bed the other day and said "'The dog will not let me go to sleep he keeps licking me and wanting to play....do you think it would be too mean if I put him downstairs in his crate while I sleep?" I laughed and said bring the crate upstairs put it in your bed room with some chew toys like the stuffed kong and if he whines to be let out ignore him.. a little tough love. Not sure if it worked as I have not worked with him since and I have my doubts if he can do the tough love part as he is 100% softie! We did have a dog shower for him at work and he almost cried...

Congrats to your co worker! In my experience, men are so reserved about getting a dog and then they become total mushballs and adore the dog sometimes more than the woman in the house!
Edison shows a lot of affection to my hubby; to me a little but Edison makes it seem like its work!

My rescued pittie is just a love! They are incredibly sweet dogs. No one knows what my guy's early life was like as he was about 1 y/o when he was picked up as a stray. He's 3 now. And YES, we need photos!

you will NEVER know love like the love of a pitty! they are just a very special breed of dog, i love all dogs, and i adore my dogs, but if theres one breed that i think gives their people the most heart its the abpt and staffordshire bull terriers...these "pit bulls" have huge huge hearts in those big bully ribcages!

ive never met a pitbull owner who has regretted their breed...REAL pitbull people are special people!

Well.....we are going ahead with our (hopefully) newest member of the family! We have to complete the home visit and application process first (of course). Since DH works with one of the people from this particular rescue....I'm not too worried that we will be approved. Pics will be coming as soon as we have our first "meet & greet" to see how everyone gets along! I can't wait
