I dont know much about dogs. But one thing I know is that every time I visit my sister who has a german sheperd my clothes is full of hair. My sister says that is normal for sheperd to lose ALOT of hair. Is this true or could there be something wrong with this particular individual? Thanks.

Yes, it is normal, as long as there aren't any bald patches, etc. People have posted on this forum about making sweaters from the hair that their shepherds shed

Shepherds are big shedders, (aka) german shedders. Daily brushing can help with cutting down on the shedding, but as long as the coat looks healthy and the dog isn't doing a lot of scratching then I'd say it's pretty normal. They also will blow their coat a couple of times a year, thats even more fun.

I have 7 of them,
Yes, heavy shedding is normal as they have a double coat.

Yes, it's loads of fun. My shedder is blowing out her coat right now and there are little tumbleweeds of hair all over the place. I can't wait 'til this is over!

But the great thing is they seldom need a bath. All that shedding keeps them pretty clean.
