Our lab got extremely sick off of TOTW again so we are sticking to BB Wilderness from now on. I went to pick up a small bag of Wilderness and saw this new formula.

BLUE Buffalo Wilderness - Natural Evolutionary Healthy Weight Diet for Dogs

Does anyone have any experience with it? Our lab is a healthy weight (approx 75lbs) but I saw that this food comes with glucosamine and chondroitin for joint maintenance. As we all know, labs are prone to hip/joint problems so I figured I'd start now with the supplements, although he is pretty young (1.5 yrs). Figured it couldn't hurt.

Anyone else try this food? Same price as the regular BB Wilderness.

Thanks.

I haven't used this, but I'd look at large breed formulas of various good-quality foods, which would probably include glucosamine and chondroitin, rather than going with a "diet" food for a dog who's a healthy weight, especially a young active dog who probably burns a fair amount of calories.

OK thanks -- I'll burn through this small bag of food then I'll probably switch back to the normal BB Wilderness that he was on before (Duck).

FWIW I think none of the previous Wilderness brands include anything like glucosamine and chondroitin.

I got curious, so I checked dogfoodanalysis.com, and Blue Buffalo Chicken & Rice for large breed adults does have glucosamine and chondroitin. There are so many different products in each brand of dog food now, it's hit or miss what store will carry what.
You can buy the supplements for dogs too, but they can be pricy.

I have had my dogs on numerous higher quality dog foods over the years. Never on TOTW though. I recently took them off of Blue Buffalo due to all of them at one time or another vomiting that bile stuff. The company also had some recalls. I switched my dogs food to Life"s Abundance about 4 months ago and they all seem to be doing well on it.
It can only be bought online as it is not sold in Petstores. Every other day I chop up some of the PetFresh veggie and chicken balogney and mix it in with a little bit of water to moisten. Maybe a teaspoon. My dogs go crazy for that!
