One of the TV stations here did a test on the thundershirt on several dogs and it was amazing to see the difference. It even worked on a dog that was afraid of the vacuum cleaner. The dog just laid down and went to sleep where before he was terrified.
I listen to The Pet Show Guy - Warren Eckstein. He has mentioned playing a tape recording of thunder (or fireworks or whatever sound the dog is afraid of) at a VERY low volume - extremely low - and ever so slowly, turning up the volume little by little. This is done over a long period of time - could be months. He swears it works. He also swears by the Thundershirt - has used it on his dogs, I think.
wow thanks so much for the thundershirt tip. my lab is also terrified and does the shaking and panting and following and there is no consoling her. i am really concerned about the fourth of july and all the fireworks that start in june. i'm certainly going to check into it.
