I got my dog to the vet today. The vet says that he does have a UTI/bladder infection and that some antibiotics should stop the dribbling within a few days. Yay!

Unfortunately, she also noticed that his heart murmur has gotten much worse just since June. In June it was a 1/6 and today it is a 4/6.

My in-laws had a 17 y/o Shih Tzu, the last few years of her life she had a bladder problem. She frequently had bladder stones earlier in her life and after surgery she was fine. We bought infant diapers and cut a hole for her tail. It is much more economical than puppy diapers at the pet stores. Also, Drs Foster and Smith (online) has belly bands with inserts (you can use wash cloths, as well)for the guys. You will see a great improvement in no time...good luck!!!

So glad to hear it was just a bladder infection/UTI. Sorry to hear the heart murmur has gotten worse. What was / is the prognosis?

Please keep us posted. We'll be keeping you in our thoughts, prayers and our paws crossed!

She said that the heart murmur could be worse due to infection, if he has infection in his heart valve (or something like that?). Since he is on antibiotics for the UTI, they will see if that improves the heart murmur too. If not, he may need meds for that on a chronic basis. He is getting older and starting to have more medical problems - his eyes, his teeth, his arthritis, now his heart. When I looked at the vet report, I realized that we actually estimate his age at 14, not 13 (though we don't know for sure). I think that is getting up there for a beagle.

My boy in his "youth" (when we first got him, approx 6 years old):

Update:

After 2 weeks of treatment, symptoms have not gone away. Vet did another urinalysis and said his infection is still "raging" and that this probably means something else is going on. She did an ultrasound on him today, and found that he has stones. But also that his prostate is enlarged, much moreso than you'd expect on a neutered dog. Which may mean cancer. She took an aspirate and said it is full of odd looking cells, which probably does mean cancer, but she is sending the sample out to pathology to find out for sure. We will get the results back in a week.

This is getting a lot more involved than just doggy diapers...

Oh dear.
Hope it's not cancer. Cancer sucks.
