First I got back in to fostering (last month) and today I did a transport of two young dogs from the NC/VA line up to Elliston, a bit east of Christiansburg.
One was an incredibly cute pit puppy, sort of coffee colored with a touch of whip cream - he is about 10 weeks old and not a peep out of him the whole trip. Sure was a wiggle butt once he was at his overnight "home".
The other was black and tan, maybe some Rottie in her? Also a very quiet, sweet girl.
Long day and the last ten miles before getting home felt like such a challenge even though I drive those 10 miles several times a week. I'd stopped in C-burg for dinner and would really have loved to have a chauffeur to drive me home with my full tummy. Got stuck in heavy traffic after a Hokies game at VA Tech.
I can't imagine how I dealt with city traffic all those years before I retired to the country.
And pictures!! Come on, you know the rules!! We'll give you a break since you've been out of it a while, but next time young lady...............
Although I took a break from the fostering and transporting I was still putting plenty of time and money into my work with my humane society - in particular - help the helpers - did poop patrol and some training/socializing a couple of times a week for a friend who fosters and works 6 days a week.
I could do a bit more if the other members of the household would either: stop shedding in the house or learn to vacuum and dust what they do shed. Maybe unload the clean clothes from the drier - it's at nose level for them for heaven's sake - and sort in to piles at least.

Um, if you figure out how to get them to do that............can you give me a call??
Thanks for being a transporter again!!! I occassionally do transport now, but used to do it a lot more years ago. It's rewarding, and it's the one thing in animal rescue that always has a happy ending.
