I agree with some GDS and some Heinz 57. What a fine looking dog! Congratulations to all involved.

Smile What a lovely story Okie Dokie

A good dog and a good husband - what more can a woman ask for ! Congratulations !!!

All my dogs have come to me like your new dog 'Roy'. I never went looking for any of my dogs. I'm not sure who was actually "rescued" either, them or ME - lol!

My 1st dog came running up to me when I was out taking a walk and the man who was fostering her was trying to find this heeler mix a new home. I remember the 1st week that we had her, she dug up all the plants in our yard and destoyed the hose. She ended up being a fantastic dog and my SO and I both loved her until she passed.

My 2nd and 3rd dogs came to us within 2 days of each other. Dog #2 was thrown out of a car at 10 pm in front of my neighbor's home. I went outside for a few moments to get some fresh air and saw a strange truck slow down, turn off it's lights, throw her out and then speed off. She was a dobie mix and turned out to be such a sweet, wonderful dog. She still holds a special place in my heart! I lost her 3 yrs ago .

Just one day later, Dog #3, a pit/boxer mix was hit on the freeway and left for dead when my SO rescued her. No agency would take her with a broken leg. I mean, they'd take her and put her down, but not get her leg fixed and put her up for adoption . All of a sudden we went from having 1 dog at home to 3 dogs. And the 1st and the 3rd dogs started fighting over the alpha position in the house. It wasn't pretty, but eventually got worked out. This dog also holds a very special spot in my heart. I lost her a little over 5 yrs ago .

My 4th and final dog, a chow mix, had been living homeless along a creek for months and I was feeding him, along with his wife and 7 pups until I could trap them. With some additional help, I rescued all of them except for him and was very blessed to get them into foster care and eventually into homes. But he got thrown in doggy prison before I could catch him and I found him there on the day he was scheduled to be euthanized.

At that time, I had 2 females (dogs 2 & 3) and didn't want another dog, especially a male with long hair, but I had to get him out of doggie prison and there was no one to foster him, so I kept him, but was not able to find him a new home. After a year, I became too attached to him to let him go and now I refer to him as the "$6M Dollar Dog"! I would not take $6M for him, because he means that much to me ! Unfortunately, he is very near the end of his life and I am going to miss him terribly when he's gone.
