and the house is empty. EMPTY. Not like home at all
I am going away for a couple of weeks and took the five of them to two different boardings as per their temperaments. Now, it's nice to be able to be in the kitchen and clean out a closet without arguing with dogs or tripping on a dog or finding that someone peed in the corner... But it's obvious they are my family and they make my house a home. I'll be glad to get on with this vacation and not be in this empty house. I'll miss them!
I know that empty house feeling well. It is a very uncomfortable feeling. Everything is so quiet and I always expect to see a dog come popping around the corner and then I remember that they aren't there-
Yes, you will miss them, but they will be safe and well-cared for
When I pick my dogs up at the boarding kennel- my one dog is always like OMG you LEFT me, and my other dog will be hey, can't you see that I am busy playing here.
Have a blast on vacation!
I tend to forget...like I'll go to the door to take them out & remember they're not there. It's like when the electricity goes out and I flick the switch anyway....
Heh. Here I am 2,000 miles away and befriended a cat at the B&B where I was. I need animals! Will be riding for a week next week and I'm sure the ranch has dogs.
I guess I'm more of a homebody than I thought. I am noticing people's dogs on vacation (lots of cattle dog types out here in Colorado!) and I was going to visit the wonderful animal shelter but maybe I'd better not.
