Could be a Basenji but it could also be a Decker Rat Terrier that were crossed with Basenji's. Basenji's tend to be very aloof where the DRT will be a friendly dog.

Deckers have a stubby tail, mine has a tail like a Basenji. Could be a mix.

Well bred deckers have a DOCKED tail, many are no longer docking, what does the tail look like? Basenji's and DRT's both have curly tails

Could be a DRT mix, since they were just recognized by the AKC there was quite a bit of indiscriminent breeding done by one particular breeder who just about decimated the breed.

What part of the country are you in?
