a man was tased for waking his 2 small dogs off leash in an area which recently became leash only. I don't care how belligerant this man was or if he gave no id. This is clearly overkill. What do you think?

Yes it's California. What do you expect.

BTW this seems like more of a political thread than a dog thread.

I have a lot of issues with this.

I live in a town with a leash law that no one seems to be able to obey, for whatever excuses they want to make. That law protects everyone...people from dogs, dogs from people, dogs from other dogs, and maybe sometimes, people from people. I'm not saying I think tasing the man was necessarily the right thing, but if you don't obey the law and you, or your dogs get hurt, you don't get to enjoy the protection of the law either. This man was acting like a jackass, and the Park Ranger seems to have felt threatened.

Geez, how hard is it to properly restrain you dog?

I agree that we all should obey the laws but for years this area was off leash and only recently been changed. Whatever happened to warnings. Also I think he was trying to walk away, not towards her. Yes he was a jackass but tasing is dangerous and should only be used for serious confrontations and in danger.

As Huckleberry3911948 said, it wasn't really about the leash.

I have so many problems with irresponsible pet ownership that anything else I have to say about this would be off-topic, so I am finished.

Agree, the actions of the person is totally seperate from the leash issue and was the subject & reason for the ranger's action.
So it is 100% incorrect to say "a man was tased for waking his 2 small dogs off leash", he was tased because be created a seperate issue that resulted in the tasing.

Anyway, why didn't he just yell "Don't Tase me Bro'!!!!"
