A friend of mine needs help figuring out what kind of dog Charlie is. I'm not sure how old he is or how much he weighs, but once I know I will post it. What breed or breeds does he look like to you? I was thinking, depending on his size, he might be Border Collie/ Shepherd mix, maybe Australian Shepherd. Or if he's smaller maybe Springer Spaniel mix? What do you think?

he looks like my moms dog clyde, but smaller. http://photos.no-life.com/gallery2/v/Vineyard/Vineyard2007/BlancHarvest07/0707140011.JPG.html (broken link)
clyde is the black and white. Clyde is a hienz 57 dog ...he's got chow, border collie, dalmation, springer and some lab in him. Clydes sister is bonnie(black dog) and the other dog is my darling Cody-roo!
Mix breeds end up halfway inbetween the size of it's parents.
Charlie looks like a little dude in the picture so Border Collie, Shephard and Australian Shepherd are too big.
But shelties (shetland sheep dogs) are much smaller dogs.
The broad shoulders and chest along with the spotted coat indicates a beagle. The tail is beagle too.
If you give us some measurements and some more pictures, I think we could narrow it down to two or three breeds.
See that's the thing, I don't know if he's a puppy or not.. lol! A friend of mine sent me his picture in an e-mail and asked me what I thought he was. He didn't say how old he is, how tall he is, how much he weighs, etc so like I said, depending on his age and size I would guess Border Collie/ Shepherd mix or maybe Springer Spaniel mix. If he's young than he could get a lot bigger, you know. It's just really hard to tell when you don't know anything about the dog. I think Beagle is a good guess. If he's older than I would guess Beagle and Spaniel?? My neighbor has two Shelties and I just don't see that in Charlie, you never know though.
The brown dog that you see in these pics is 1/2 border collie and 1/2 german shepard. He is full grown and weighs 35 pounds soaking wet. Mixed breeds are very inconsistent in appearance.
