This usually works. However, it can't be done with all drugs. Check with your vet on this one.

The cheese worked once, but it was one of those things she refused a second time.

Good new last night, Happy in Wyoming. I took your tip and heated a tablespoon of wet food and emptied the antibiotic capsule into it. I made sure to give her a bit without any meds in it first, and she ate it all.

I really appreciate all the ideas, we may need to try several until these pills are gone.

One more question, she hasn't pooped in 3 days. She isn't eating well, but has certainly taken in enough that we should have seen some output by now.
A concern or not? Would canned pumpkin help?

We see the vet on Wed.

I've tried prying her mouth open, but she struggles.

I can't think of anything else to try. She is refusing all treats now, I guess she figures they all contain pills. Can anybody suggest something else to try?

Wrap it in a meatball size hamburger ball. Works with our hound every time. Good luck.

Deer meat cooked, cottage cheese and brown rice cooked. Mix it all together and give her Orange Gatorade. Then you can put her pills in the food as well and she gets hydrated. Dogs are like humans when it comes to surgery. Normal functions shut down or slow down as the healing process begins and should resume within a few days to a week.

I'm glad it worked. I use a half can when I mix it. The food must be the chopped vaiety. He can drink the gravy stuff and leave the pieces of pill. he's been getting it for a year or so now and it works fine. I'm sure he doesn't know it's there.

I'd call the vet's office just on general priinciples about the constipation; but it's probably from the antibiotic. Don't give him any new foods like canned pumpkin without the vet's say-so. You don't want to add another factor.
